Workshop on drafting Bankable Project Proposals (under the EU-Mumbai Partnership)

Mumbai, India | Tuesday, November 23, 2021

The project strengthens the EU-Mumbai partnership by identifying a project each in urban planning, mobility and waste management with stakeholders in Mumbai such as Mumbai Port Trust, CIDCO and MCGM, through a series of workshops on how to draft bankable proposal for these projects

The first workshop in this series is held in Mumbai Port Trust on 23 November 2021 on the redevelopment of the port land. IEUP experts will interact with around 25 participants from the Trust on the concept of ‘bankability of the assets designed, developed, or operated by the Trust’s staff and to mainstream some of the understanding in their day-to-day work regarding formulating new projects for capital expenditure through own or external source funded projects or as public private partnerships. Through case studies, the participants will gain basic understanding of approaches to project financing , notably:

  • Key elements for a project to be bankable
  • What financing agencies look for when they appraise a project
  • Selecting an appropriate financing agency and structure
  • How to know an agency is ready to seek financing

As part of the series, similar workshops are held with the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO) on mobility and with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).
