Workshop
On May 15th,
2023, an online technical workshop was conducted alongwith Chennai Unified
Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) under the India EU Urban Partnership
(IEUP) support project to discuss various aspects and readiness of implementing
Mobility as a Service (MaaS) in Chennai.
The workshop
aimed to bring together experts, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders
from EU and India to discuss several elements such as policy interventions,
technical requirement, and business models essential for successful
implementation of MaaS in Chennai.
The technical
workshop provided an excellent opportunity to discuss various challenges and
solutions related to implementation of MaaS in Chennai. The workshop comprised
of presentations on different topics related to MaaS ecosystem such as
technical framework, key stakeholders and their roles and responsibilities,
global models for successful implementation, requirements and MaaS maturity
assessment and suitable alternatives for Chennai and possible revenue streams
and cost analysis for the model.
The workshop
was attended by more than 20 participants from Chennai Metro Rail Limited
(CMRL), Chennai Urban Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA), Indraprastha
Institute of Information Technology Delhi, World Bank, Centre for Development
of Advanced Computing-Noida, Delegation of the European Union to India, etc.
Overall, the workshop
was informative and insightful, and it is hoped that the knowledge gained will
help in developing effective policies and business model for MaaS in Chennai.
